Philips NMS9100
===============

the Philips NMS9110 computer was the first computer I (== my father) had at home. They were also sold as P3105 computers. I was fortunate to buy it recently.

Preconfigured with 720kB and /or 360kB

Original config:
-CPU 8088-2 CPU (4.77 MHz / 8 MHz) -768 kB RAM -XT-IDE integrated controller on motherboard (Shugart/Seagate?). (Not to be confused with the regular IDE or AT-IDE standard) wit 20MB miniscribe 8225xt harddisk. (XT refers to the XTA interface) -720 kB 3,5" floppy drive + 360 kB 5,25" floppy drive -Paradise CGA card -MSDOS 3.11 No or limited software access BIOS via dipps and software. CPU speed could be switched with speed.com. Hardware selections per dip switches as indicated: I would have preferred to keep everything original, but it wasn't possible. Unfortunately the hardware is old. The harddisk sounds like it has reached its end of life. The included VGA card broke down. Most floppies I have are 1.44 MB, so the floppy drive needed to be updated. The keyboard is AT style. The original XT keyboard had F1-F10 located in 2 rows on the left side. Current config: -CPU 8088-2 CPU (4.77 MHz / 8 MHz) -i8087 floating point unit / math coprocessor -640 kb RAM (+128 kB, blocked by i/o from ISA cards. -XT-IDE CF card -1.44 MB floppy drive + 360 kB floppy drive -Intellan 8/16 ethernet card -VGA card -ISA floppy disk controller -dual boot MSDOS 6.22 / Freedos 3.2 The computer is still useful for writing documents, writing C programs, playing ancient games and access my Linux computer with telnet (SSH is too slow). Info below comes from Kees's Computer Home http://home.iae.nl/users/pb0aia/cm/garage.html The P3105 / NMS9100 computer does not have a BIOS setup program. Because it is an XT, the 'setup' is done by way of switches on the motherboard. SW1 is located on the far left side of the board, under the slots for the extension cards. The settings are: 1 on=8087 coprocessor not installed off=8087 coprocessor installed 2 on=one diskette drive installed \ setting of drive type is not off=two diskette drives installed / needed, bios will determine 3 mem size 4 mem size 5 on=parallel port disabled off=parallel port enabled as lpt1 6 reserved 7 on=serial port disabled off=serial port enabled as com1 8 on=fixed disk port disabled off=fixed disk port enabled at 320-323 hex The p3105 uses a XT-IDE type hard disk at this port. It can also use regular mfm hard disks with a controller card in one of the slots. When you do this, sw8 should be ON. mem size: sw4 sw3 on on none on off 256k off on 512k off off 640k The p3105 claims to have 768k memory on startup. The extrea 128k is indeed availabe, but it resides in the high memory area, above the video memory.
